We live in a world were we're told what is good and bad, right and wrong, to think in black and white. I've always tried to look at the world subjectively, through non-filtered goggles. It is the various shades of grey between the white and black spectrum that catches my attention.
We walk around making decisions that mold our lives; oblivious to the consequence those decisions have for others. Have you ever stopped and thought about how a decision you are about to make will effect others around you, even strangers? We act as if we are not held accountable for our actions. In truth we are, even if we are not aware.
We are told day in and day out that our choices do not change the world. That we are powerless over the way our world is shaped. In fact we can and do change the world every day.
That is what Curbside Confessions is all about, choice. It was important for me to tell the tale about how much influence we have on the world around us and how careful we should be about the decisions we make.
Some people may see Curbside Confessions and think it is a stereo typical action 'shoot-em-up' film, but it isn't. I hope they look past the action and violence to see the story for what it really- is a powerful and thought provoking story that shares a message about our influence in the world. I didn't' want to throw the message and hit the audience in the face. I didn't want to force it down their throat. I wanted to treat the audience as a participant in the story who would put the pieces of the meaning together as the story unfolded. There is a narration at the end that provides confirmation to their understanding of the film.
Curbside Confessions is important for me on many, many levels. Not only is it the single most important experience in my life, directing my first feature, but it is an achievement in itself. I have met and developed countless personal and professional relationships along the way, relationships I hope to continue throughout my life. In short, making Curbside Confessions is a dream come true. It is the pivotal moment in my life where the childish boyhood dream of growing up to be a director one day came true. A dream I thought would never become possible.
It is my hope that the audience will look past he cold unforgiving exterior of action and violence presented in Curbside Confessions and find the warm and understanding moral driven drama hidden within.
Sincerely,
Arnold Edwards II
